The director who publicly called me out and put the blame on the pool delay on me really needs to get her facts straight. Notice I can’t reply because she has blocked me from the Facebook group she admins. However, I did in the Whatsapp chat. Excerpt below.
1. I cannot unilaterally approve vendors or expenses. HOA governance requires 2 of 3 directors to agree. If something isn’t moving forward, it’s because there’s no consensus, not because of one person “complicating things.” Record shows all 3 directors chose this vendor. Sounds like a 2nd director realized the costs were overpriced for what they were and didn’t want to rubber stamp the Lakewood Hills pool to be like Washington Lincoln Memorial Reflecting “Pool.”
2. The vendor in question? That was the lowest bid for the cleaning contract. I supported cost savings then and I’m supporting cost savings now. Funny how that works.
3. “Obstruction” = asking why a $70 item costs $437 and $10 signs for $332. That’s not a delay, that’s basic due diligence. You’d think a CPA and a real estate broker would have that part covered.
4. A homeowner found the product on Amazon in 30 seconds. If asking “can we buy this cheaper?” delays a pool opening, the real question is why that’s controversial at all.
5. The board instructed the management company back in April to have the pool ready by the 15th. The management company didn’t even respond to Masera until this week. That’s a management/vendor timing issue, not “questions slowing things down.”
I fully support getting the pool open ASAP. What I don’t support is approving charges without proper review, that’s not a personality flaw, that’s literally fiduciary responsibility.
Essex management needs to answer. That’s what your HOA money pays them for to coordinate with the vendors to get the task done. Ask them why they waited until this week to get back to the board with issues needing review. If you want to use the pool send them an e-mail. Why did Essex wait until days before planned opening that there were outstanding items for review ? The board told the management to get the pool ready by the 15th of May weeks ago.
To the director who made that post, it didn’t go the way you planned…🤣
Don’t forget to vote her out. The 2 directors who are up for re-election who voted to reset the election and waste your hoa fees must go.
